Chris Page: Sky Mirror
February 10 - July 12, 2017
While walking the river banks and meadows of his Pioneer Valley landscape, Chris Page photographs intervals of change in the sky. This photographic documentation along with his experience of the day's weather - the quality of wind and shifting light - create memories that infuse the paintings and image sequences he develops later in his studio.
Throughout this work, Page conveys the everyday world as a door into the remarkable. While historically artists - like the Hudson River School painters - sought to evoke a sense of the sublime through a single vision of nature's grandeur, Page presents progressive moments of attentive observation which reflect the constant shift of elements and time.
